God’s Big Plan for us might leave us feeling overmatched at times but the truth is we’ve been made for it. So lean in and listen and trust.

Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.

Ever get tasked with something you just KNOW you can’t do? Don’t know where to start, what the end result should be or how to begin to get there? Yeah, me neither. That was Jeremiah.

It’s pretty clear that God had bigger dreams for Jeremiah than Jeremiah could ever imagine. Still, when he got the call, for forty years Jeremiah set about realizing his appointed position. Because even though Jeremiah couldn’t see it, God had a plan. Just to be clear, God laid out how far in advance he had formulated the plan for Jeremiah. I know people that have a tough time planning where they’ll have lunch.

Somehow they think, like Jeremiah, that they know better than God why they’re here. (Of course I have never done such a thing, nor laid awake nights pondering my place) If we can grasp that God knows us even before He forms us; sorts us before we’re born and then appoints each of us to a purpose it should impress and humble us and in a way, really take the pressure off of us. Our days should be spent discovering why He made us. Our efforts should go in that direction. All we really have to do is listen to Him. He’ll tell us how we fit into the schematic.

Try this on for size. In your mind, take out all the “should do’s”, “have to do’s” and everything else that the world is trying to direct you to do and instead ask yourself: “What position has God appointed me to?
