The only thing that’s sure-fire and 100%

A panacea is a cure-all, something that fixes everything.  Most people today would say they don’t exist; maybe there’s never been one.  Many people believe that as it concerns disease, sickness, affliction, paralysis and all manner of pain, including the physical, mental and emotional kind, there isn’t one single thing that can cure everything.  Maybe not with today’s modern medicine but back in the day, there was this guy named Jesus.  Matthew tells it like this.

23 Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.   24  News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed; and he healed them.  Matthew 4: 23-24

It seems that he was sort of a traveling, healing machine.  He didn’t set up his practice in one town, he went where the people needed him.  He was where they were.  He brought the healing to them first, then they started coming to him.  And who wouldn’t if a guy was batting a thousand in the fix-you-up department?  Jesus didn’t stop there though, he fixed people on the inside too.

Notice the scripture says he taught the people and he spread the word of the good news.  People need fixing in their hearts and in their minds and Jesus seemed to know this.  A troubled mind and a heavy heart can lead to all manner of physical afflictions and Jesus knew this too.  He also took all comers, which is good news for us today as we’re beset with all kinds of illness, troubles and maladies.  Jesus is right where we need him and he comes to us.

Jesus’s words, his teaching, his example and his healing powers still exist today.  They’re available to us through the bible and through prayer and through each other as the children of God.  In Him we have our panacea.
